Musabe Boys has taken a bold step in promoting digital innovation by successfully conducting a fully online student government election.
The 2026 school general election was conducted through a digital voting system, allowing students to vote electronically while results were displayed live on a big screen. This marked an important milestone for the school in embracing technology, transparency, and modern leadership practices.
According to Politikatus Nyakatanga, the Deputy Headmaster of Musabe Boys and Chairperson of the Student Government Election Committee, the system was designed to make the voting process faster, fairer, and more transparent.
He explained that all 852 students were able to vote within just 30 minutes. Unlike traditional voting methods, the digital system reduced the use of paper, saved time, and allowed results to be seen immediately after voting.
One of the strongest messages from the election was transparency. The school emphasized that the system was reliable and accurate, with every vote counted clearly and fairly.
“Mfumo haudanganyi,” Mr. Nyakatanga noted, meaning the system does not cheat. This statement reflected the school’s confidence in the digital voting process.
The election was first introduced as a pilot project, but it performed beyond expectations. The school reported 100% success, with no major challenges encountered during the process.
The video also featured students sharing their election experiences. Bis Mubusha Benjamin, one of the elected leaders, thanked his fellow students for trusting him with their votes. He promised to represent them well and demonstrate strong leadership.
He praised the election as democratic, smooth, electronic, and transparent. He also encouraged wider adoption of digital voting systems, even beyond the school environment.
Another student, who participated as a candidate but did not win, shared a powerful message of maturity and hope. He accepted the results peacefully and described the election as free and fair.
His message showed that leadership is not only about winning, but also about learning, growing, and preparing for the future. He reminded others that “even an eagle was once an egg” and encouraged students to keep fighting for a better tomorrow.
He also expressed his dream of becoming the President of Tanzania one day, showing great ambition and confidence despite losing the election.
The election demonstrated important values such as humility, resilience, democracy, innovation, and responsible leadership among students.
Musabe Boys plans to make next year’s election even bigger and more advanced. The school hopes to improve the system further and expand its capabilities.
Through this initiative, Musabe Boys has shown that schools can play a major role in preparing young people for a digital future. The success of this online election is not only a school achievement, but also an inspiration for how technology can improve democratic participation.
The 2026 digital student government election at Musabe Boys stands as a powerful example of innovation, transparency, and student leadership in action.
